Mommy's Office Do-Over

Gosh, where does the time go? I haven't posted in about 2 months! Here is one of the projects I was working on around my house. I have a room in my house called "Mommy's Office". Over the years it slowly became "Mommy's Hoarding Room". I had more embarrassing pictures of all the junk I was hoarding, but I can't seem to find them on the computer. You will have to settle for this one picture and take my word for it that this room was in BAD shape!

This picture is actually looking 10x better than what it was. This picture was taken after I had already taken LOADS of junk to Goodwill.

Finally I decided to get REAL about cleaning up my "office" and turn it into a functional space for me to do...what ever I want in here!

And no, this is NOT an April fool's joke...I really did clean up this room!

TA-DA!!! When you enter the room, this is what you see.

My mom gave me her old curtain rod, and I hung up these curtains that my sister gave me years ago. They used to hang in her daughter's bedroom. They are Waverly design and I love them!

There's a spot for my Cricut! What's in the mini armoire behind the Cricut?
Cans of spray paint!

This bookshelf is a bit of an eyesore...just no way to store that stuff cute-ly. I'll have to work on making it look better.

Did you notice my ribbon jars on the shelf?

Here's an up close pic of ribbon jars. I love storing them like this. Got the idea from blog-land. Everyone's doing it!

Finally had the hubby put up this shelf and brackets after acquiring the brackets from my mom almost 10 years ago!
In the baskets up there...those are my childhood friends: Domy, Dewey, Bashful, Nutshell, Monkey and others.

The bulletin board in a frame was a recent project. I got the cute pen holder thingy at a garage sale.

Okay, ready to do some projects in here...just need to find me a cute garbage can first...instead of that cardboard box down there under the windowsill.

Sorry I haven't been able to visit your blogs lately. I should be having more time on my hands soon since my job is making us take furlough days. But that's another story!

Pumpkin Plaque Do-Over

Found this beauty at 'ole GW.
Now if you're the artist who originally painted
her, I'm not making fun of you...
she's jus' NOT my style, so I had plans for her...

Now, how do you like HER?

The white, smeary lines are glitter.
This picture does her no justice, but I promise you
she's cuter in person!

Have a happy Halloween Everyone!

Pumpkin Package!

Yesterday I was so excited!
I got a package in the mail...actually I got 2 packages,
but one was just flea killer for my dog...
but the other was this:

I saw that it was from my friend and fellow blogger Tricia,
so I knew it had to be something GOOD!

It was one of her cute, crepe paper pumpkins!
Isn't it precious?

I think it's loaded with treats, but I didn't want to
open it and mess up its cute-ness.
Visit Tricia's blog here and find out how to make your own!

THANK YOU TRICIA!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Recently we threw a birthday celebration for my mother-in-law at our house.
Some of us are truly blessed to have great M-I-L's.

And I am happy to say that I am one of those people!
So we thought she deserved a little celebration where her own son could cook for her.

Happy Birthday Grandma Louise!

Louise with sisters Kalie and Courtney (the youngest & oldest grandchildren).

Gotta get Biggles, the dog in there too!

Yummy ice-cream cake!

Louise with 5 of her 8 grand-babies.
(Summer, Zach, Kalie, Brittney & Courtney)

I shopped my house and yard to come up with this centerpiece!

I re-used the pom-pom decorations from Summer's birthday party.

Works just as good as balloons!

Ready for dinner! Aw darn, I forgot to take a picture of the food!

Happy Birthday Grandma!
You're the BEST!

My Pretty Pumpkins!

Are you growing pumpkins in your backyard?

Does it look like my punkies are growing words on them??

My cousin told me that if you scrape words or designs on a pumpkin while it is still growing, the scraped parts will "heal" over and looked etched in!
Isn't that COOL?

I LOVE IT!

Here's our last name etched in a pumpkin that hasn't turned orange yet.

My daughter plucked this beauty from the garden 2 weeks ago 'cause she was so excited to have a pumpkin. Hopefully he'll last 'til Halloween!

It may be only August...
but never too early to get excited about PUMPKINS!

A Few Junkin' Finds

I haven't done too much junkin' this summer only because I'm making a concerted effort to SCALE DOWN and NOT bring more things into the home.

However, I have been hauling lots of things to Goodwill, giving things away and dumping things in the garbage!

So last week my daughter wanted to go garage sale-ing and I allowed myself to bring home a few things...

I found this picnic basket at a garage sale and couldn't part without it.

I spray painted it white...

and displayed on top of my armoire for now with my daughter's baby hat.

Here are few more things I picked up at another garage sale.

The tray and shutters will get painted...the tic-tac-toe will get taken to work to use with my students.

Here's my tray sportin' it's new "beachy" look!

Stay tuned for the shutter re-do!

A Little Bit' O Red, White & Blue

I actually have ZERO 4th of July decor.

I decided that I didn't need to buy anything.
All I need to do it pull together anything
red, white or blue
that's laying around the house, right?

Okay, I did break down and buy these little flags:
a dollar and some change for a pack of 4. I can handle that.

I found this old teddy bear sportin' the right colors and
The sailor hat belonged to my son when he was a baby.

I made this last year courtesy of craft time with Jen and Em.
I guess this would have to be the ONLY patriotic/americana/4th of July
piece of decor that I own.

I also found a baby hat that belonged to my daughter,
a red & white table cloth, and threw in
my Scrabble tiles for fun.

I found a little, red adirondack to put under my cloche!

So here it is: my first ever patriotic display!
I'll be vacationing in the Northwest over the 4th,
so I hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July holiday!

I'm Trendy!

A few years ago I found this trunk in my grandmother's
basement. It belonged to my Uncle Robert, who
died before I could meet him. His son, who is my dear
cousin Dennis, told me I could have the trunk. It must be over 50 years old.

It's dented, scratched and not in perfect condition...
but that's what makes it interesting.

I was excited when I opened up this season's
Pottery Barn catalog.

It looks like old (faux) looking trunks are in!

For once, something in my home is "trendy"!
